About Stan Maris

Stan Maris is a Belgian accordionist, composer and electronics artist based in Brussels.

Growing up listening to hiphop beats and alt-pop, combined with a background in jazz studies and improvised music, he brings a new sound to accordion.

His trio, Kin Gajo, was selected by Lefto Early Bird for the Lefto Presents Jazz Cats Vol 3. A hiphop-jazz-dub mutation, the trio is releasing their first full album in 2026 on W.E.R.F. Records.

Stan has performed and recorded with artists like Joe Talia, Robert Landfermann, Giovanni Di Domenico, Sofia Jernberg, Julian Sartorius, Radwan Gazi Moumneh, Clara Levy and others.

As a solo artist, Stan’s music is minimal and cyclic, using his rebuild hybrid midi-acoustic accordion to trigger samples and synths that interweave with the acoustic sound of the instrument.
Immersive soundscapes, little melodies and sonic textures blending together as a whole. His first solo album, Belle//Maris, a split solo record with bouzouki/guitar player Nicolas Van Belle was released in 2022, on bwaa. records. After this more acoustic approach, Stan now focuses more on the electronic possibilities that can enhance the accordion.
